THE CALL OF REV. ELIJAH AJIJOLA TO THE MINISTRY (EGCC)
About my call to the ministry though I was born into this church or ministry but in 1973 I began to have passion for God in Lagos Nigeria, this passion continue to grow and my love for God continue to increase daily, I was sensing the call of God on my life and it was becoming stronger. At this time I had left the village and was living in Lagos with my brother Apostle David Ajijala, both of us were worshiping in the same church, Grace and Glory Pentecostal Mission Lagos Nigeria. After a while in the church, I started working in the church as a Sunday school teacher and the major Yoruba interpreter for the church and beyond.
I had a discussion with Baba Apostle Gabriel Ajijala about my conviction and he looked at me and said you may not know that I have been watching you over some time now, and I know the Spirit of God is upon you for the work of the ministry. Whatever you can do, do it and make sure this ministry does not die because I know you to be a trust worthy person who stands by his word. This is the kind of people God want to use for His work. Apostle said God is going to use me mightily and that I should stand firm, and be prayerful.
In 1986 I was with the Apostle G. Ajijala and he called me by name Elijah and said listen the only thing I give to you is the name of Jesus, do not deviate from it because Jesus is real, Jesus is real and is more than anything you can ever imagine Jesus is more than enough for you, It will always work for you whenever I call on His name, and ever since then I have remain focused and those words had remained with me to date. Wherever I go, I always treasure these words in my heart. I was constantly travelling with Apostle Gabriel Ajijala wherever he went, be it to Benue State or Kogi State on missionary journey, It was only the first journey to those places I was not there with him.
In 1994 I organised the first ever national convention of the church in Ektu-Itepe, Kogi State. After this convention Pastor Daniel Adoi called me and said Elijah you mean so well for this church but many people do not understand you Spirit, I will never stand on your way again go and continue to do everything God has placed on your heart for this ministry.
In 1995 I saw the church again sinking and was dead faced down I saw this vision where the Lord was asking me to get the church back on its feet, I was asking the Lord how? I was looking at many challenges facing the church; this is because some people are going about sowing the seed of discord among the people telling lies.
I started the church in Lagos 1995 and ever since then the Lord has been faithful. It has never crossed my mind that one day I will be the general overseer of this great church, I was enjoying serving the Lord, but on the 5th September 2021, I was appointed and ordained as the general overseer of the church at Oloruntedo, Osun State. The spiritual head quarter of the church, I took over the leadership of church from Rev Sunday Oluwatayo who could not continue the work.
The church is not without many challenges as there was no structure on ground over the years, but by grace of God today we have a strong team on ground running the ministry. There are still many ground to cover as there are many adjustment we still have to make. We had our first national convention under my watch on 05/09/ 2021 and the second National convention was 22/09/20222 and for year 2023 it will start on 27/09 2023 and to end on the 29/09/2023. We are trusting God for a very successful conference.
